IMN OnTrack: Maravich
IMN OnTrack takes a closer look at one track a local artist has put on the web for your perusal, and give you a little history behind the music as well. We’re timing this look to coincide with that artist’s performance in the coming week, but our real goal is to get local music on your computer or portable media player. Think of this like the musical equivalent of a food court sample.

The members of Maravich have done their time in all manner of loud local (and beyond local) bands, so their aggressive, sometimes abrasive sound shouldn’t come as a surprise. The trio melds this sound around some hardcore influences and a few strong melodic elements to come up with their current musical incarnation. Fans of all things brash and heavy won’t be disappointed.

Experience the band at their MySpace page before heading out to their February 21st show at the Melody Inn. A little homework never hurt anybody.

The term “psychedelic” may conjure images of paisley print and flower children. Llange sticks more to the weird and trippy definition, with extended songs and expansive soundscapes. This Indianapolis band has found its way in front of many different audiences due to their ability to blend in with several genres of music. Stick back and enjoy the trip.

Llange joins their wordless brethren youwilldie and Virgil Saturday night at the Melody Inn. The mics may enjoy the vacation. For a sample of the even, download a copy of “Machination” from Llange’s MySpace page.

Bolth has been a strong presence on the local punk and hardcore scene for quite awhile, impressing fans with both their high-energy stage show and their two full-length recordings.

They’re a natural choice to open up for the Queers on two shows next week - one for the 21+ crowd at the Melody Inn on 11/14, and one for the all-ages folks the next night at the Underground (located at the Harrison center) The Irving Theater. That may seem like a lot of work in couple days, but it’s just a start for Bolth. They have an ambitious 8-state tour coming up that covers most of the rest of the year.

Check out “Thank You” from their MySpace site and enjoy the shows!
