1. Flogging Molly, Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Dusty Rhodes & The River Band

8 PM, Sunday February 10, The Vogue, Sold Out

Flogging Molly has made a name for itself by creating a Celtic-inspired punk sound that’s influenced by bands like The Pogues and The Clash. The act that’s most responsible for this show being a sold out event, though, is Indy’s own Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band. The roots blues trio is touring with Flogging Molly on over 30 dates through St. Patrick’s Day. Dusty Rhodes & The River Band round out the three act bill.

2. Trem Fu CD release with The Coke Dares and Acid Green

10:30 PM, Saturday February 9, The Melody Inn, $7

Expect no less than a packed house this week for Saturday’s weekly Punk Rock Night extravaganza. The band we can only call Trem Fu in family friendly publications visits from Bloomington to celebrate the release of their latest CD, “More Blood in the Monitors.” A pair of Punk Rock Night favorites makes this a can’t-miss show – the attention-deficit rock of The Coke Dares and recently reunited Indy hard rockers Acid Green.

3. The Temptations

8 PM, Friday February 8, Clowes Hall, 8 PM, $21-37

The Temptations were one of the defining groups of the 60’s. Now 40 years into their history, the group has had a lot of member turnover. Twenty-six singers have been members of The Temptations over the years. This lineup features original Temptation Otis Williams. The rest of the members’ time in the Temps ranges from 25 years to less than a year on the job. The current lineup recorded their 2007 album, “Back To Front.”

4. Will Hoge, Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, Dawn Landes

8:30 PM, Saturday February 9, Music Mill, $12

Saturday’s show at the Music Mill will be a celebration of heartland rock. Will Hoge built his fan base the old fashioned way – through steady touring and making quality music compared to artists like Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty. Jason Isbell was one of the co-leaders of acclaimed group Drive-By Truckers before leaving the band in April 2007 to go solo. New York indie folk artist Dawn Landes completes the lineup.

5. Reba & Kelly Clarkson

8 PM, Friday February 8, Conseco Fieldhouse, $36-56

Country superstar Reba McEntire is trying to join the ranks of Cher, Madonna, and Elvis and become an entertainer known only by a single name. For the “2 Worlds, 2 Voices” tour, she’s simply going by her first name (also the name of her long-running sitcom) as she joins American Idol’s first and most successful champion, Kelly Clarkson. The duo first performed together on CMT’s “Crossroads” show in 2007.

6. Teenage Rehab, Gay Black Republican, Middle Class Trash, Flamingo Nosebleed

8 PM, Thursday February 7, Melody Inn, $6

Paducah, KY may not be the first town that comes to mind when thinking of hotbeds of punk rock, but the Ohio River city is home of a pair of no-nonsense punk acts visiting Indy on Thursday. Teenage Rehab has released a pair of albums on the Amp Records label. Fellow Paducah-ites Middle Class Trash joins them on this tour. Ft. Wayne punk act Flamingo Nosebleed and Indy’s Gay Black Republican complete a night of straight ahead punk.

7. Vocal Ease

8:30 & 10:30 PM, Saturday February 9, The Jazz Kitchen, $15

Indy is blessed with a surplus of quality jazz vocalists. It seems that you can hear a top-flight singer any night of the week in the city’s clubs and lounges. Vocal Ease gives you the opportunity to sample from all the top singers at once. The tentative lineup for this event includes Mary Moss, Cynthia Layne, Everett Greene, Larry Greene, Brenda Williams, Ezra Todd Shelton, and Goldie.

8. Three Mo’ Tenors

8 PM, Friday February 8 & Saturday February 9 – 7 PM, Sunday February 10

Hilbert Circle Theatre, $30-70

The original Three Tenors, the trio of opera superstars who recorded and performed together in the 90’s, inspired many imitator acts. This one, Three Mo’ Tenors, is a trio of African American singers trained in classical style. The show goes well beyond opera and includes elements of jazz, gospel, R&B, and show tunes. The multi-faceted show would be a perfect addition to a romantic night downtown on the weekend before Valentines Day.

9. Dark Star Orchestra

8 PM, Sunday February 10, Music Mill, $22

Look for a larger crowd than usual at this Music Mill show featuring Dark Star Orchestra. The club’s new policy of allowing patrons 18-years-old and above means the band’s younger fans can see them at the venue. What they’ll see is a nearly note-for-note recreation of a single show from the Grateful Dead’s extensive catalog of live performances. Dark Star Orchestra has been recreating the Dead’s shows for nearly a decade.

10. Hurt w/ Virgin Millionaires, Lazarus

8 PM, Thursday February 7, The Vogue, $17

Hurt has been rising to the top of the rock world since their debut in 2006. Influenced by acts ranging from Nine Inch Nails to Metallica, the group had their biggest success in 2007 when their single “Ten Ton Brick” reached the top 10 of the US Mainstream Rock chart. They’re joined by a pair of Indy’s best loved acts. Virgin Millionaires is slated to release their debut album later this year. Lazarus features former member of Birdmen of Alcatraz.
