IMN OnTrack takes a closer look at one track a local artist has put on the web for your perusal, and give you a little history behind the music as well. We’re timing this look to coincide with that artist’s performance in the coming week, but our real goal is to get local music on your computer or portable media player. Think of this like the musical equivalent of a food court sample.
The new boss is the same as the old boss this Friday at the Melody Inn. The show may signal the end of BIGBIGcar, but frontman David Adamson also premieres the CD from his new project, Grampall Jookabox. He and collaborator Aimee Brown have dubbed their music “jungle folk,” replete with elements of electronic music and Americana melted down and molded into the same sonic candle. For an appetizer, try “Ponta,” taken from the Joyful Noise Recordings webpage. You’ll get a complementary copy of the album “Scientific Cricket” if you attend the party, as well. Also playing are Everthus The Deadbeats and Ellul.
